Espresso Coffee Pot is Also Known As Moka Pot

Contrary to what many people believe, there is actually no need to purchase an expensive espresso coffee machine such as a Delonghi coffee machine in order to make your own espresso. A moka coffee pot is a practical and reasonable alternative to an expensive, high quality espresso machine.

This is a stove top espresso coffee maker that works by brewing coffee through steam pressurized water. It is often otherwise called as an espresso coffee pot by some coffee drinkers. The espresso pot is commonly used in Europe, most likely since it was "born" there. This stove top brewer was first invented and patented by Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. Being the pioneer in developing the first Moka pot, Bialetti has become the number one brand of espresso maker over any other brand of coffee machines.

The Bialetti pot, also called the Moka Express, is the world's number one brewer with over 250 million units manufactured to date. It has revolutionized the way espresso coffee is prepared and is recognized by its trademark octagonal shape. Its shape has been patented worldwide and is an iconic design and displayed in modern industrial art museums such as the Science Museum in London. Being the top of its class, this Bialetti pot is in fact the most copied coffee maker and is a staple appliance in many households.

The reason for its popularity is because of its ease of use and affordability. The Moka pot comes in 6 different sizes - it is available in 1(2oz), 3 (6.5 oz), 6 (10 oz), 9 (18.5 oz), 12 (25 oz) and 18 (37 oz) cup sizes. All the espresso pots bear Bialetti's unique mark of "the little fellow with the mustache." The Bialetti Moka brewer is made of aluminum. Its original design was made from aluminum with bakelite handles. It consists of several parts.

There is a reservoir or a boiler where the water is poured in, a filter basket/funnel that holds the coffee grounds, a filter plate that fits the top part and a gasket or a rubber ring that holds the plate in place. To use the pot, water is first poured in the reservoir, usually up to the level of the steam valve. Then the filter basket or funnel is inserted and pour onto the coffee grounds into this filter basket. The gasket and the filter plate are then tightly screwed on the base. Finally, the Moka pot is placed over a stove top and heated until just before it starts to boil. Then the only thing left to do is to enjoy your freshly brewed cup of stove top espresso coffee.
